In Year 1 we make learning MEMORABLE by using Makaton, practical equipment in Maths, singing songs and rhymes and using pictures and photos to understand new learning. 
We develop our ORACY skills through discussions with our talking partners, learning new words using vocab ninja and retelling stories. 
We inspire a love of READING by bringing books to life through drama and exciting learning opportunities such as following clues and receiving letter from book characters. We also use books to find out about the world around us in other subjects such as Science and Geography. 
Year 1 pupils EXPERIENCE the national curriculum through trips and visits such as local area walks and museums. We enrich children’s learning though hands-on activities allowing children to explore and experience learning first hand.
