A Thank you note from Ray Withnall,  author, and part of the Stockport Veterans Legacy Project.

I was at Willow Grove yesterday afternoon and was very impressed with the poppy pebbles in front of the screen wall. Please thank the children, and thank you for involving the children; I’m sure they will take their own memories with them as they grow older.

One of the casualties I photographed yesterday was Harold Shone. I have attached his grave with his pebble.

I hope to include a selection of the pebbles in my book; probably images of pebbles with casualties whose background information is scarce. I think the pebble against their headstone or name on the screen wall, will show that we haven’t forgotten them. I will of course accredit the stones to the school.
