17th July 2020
With the summer holidays approaching, I thought I would take time to write to you all to say thank you.
I am sure you will agree that last four months have not been easy for anyone but together we have made the best out of a terrible situation. We have worked together, supported each other and shown what is unique and special about the Brinnington community. Where other areas in Stockport have struggled, Brinnington and especially the Westmorland school family have done themselves proud, kept each other safe and got through this together. It has been heart-warming to see the community pulling together in so many ways.
Times have been hard, but in true Brinnington style challenges have been met with a smile, strong resolve, good humour and a determination to show the rest of Stockport how united and strong this community can be. The pandemic has made us as a school do things differently and we have learned how to engage with you in a variety of new and exciting ways. We will continue to work in these ways with you. The crisis has brought us closer together.
It has been great to hear of the many different ways that you have been supporting your children at home with their learning and of the enjoyment that the majority of you have had engaging once again with learning. At the end of term, we will stop setting work for home learning, it is now imperative that we all get a break and are ready to start afresh in school in September.
You have all given far MORE than ever before and I take opportunity to say a massive thank you for your support.
I feel we are ready for September, when once again I hope we will be able to lead the rest of Stockport in the full return of all children and staff to our wonderful school!
We enter the holiday period in the knowledge that detailed routines, systems and structures are now in place in order to keep everyone safe when we will all return to school in September. I assure you that my leadership team, teachers, governors and other staff have worked tirelessly and made the school as safe as it can be.
There are lots of exciting things planned to bring our school back to life in the new term, we will teach a full curriculum and have been working hard to make it as exciting as possible. Things will be a little different BUT we will endeavour as always to go the extra mile to get things right. My team of teachers and support staff will work harder than ever to help your children catch up with lost learning.
Over the summer, try not to worry about coming back in September. Next week we will have the transition picnics on the field (or in the hall if it is raining). Your children will meet their new teachers and get some things to do to start thinking about September. We will text you to remind you of the times of the picnics the day before. Don’t worry just yet about uniforms (though it will be available to buy whilst your child meets their teacher), don’t worry about when PE will be or the times of the school day. I’ll publish those things on the school website ready the first day back. Over the course of the Autumn term we will re-establish our wonderful school once more.
I look forward to welcoming you all onto site once again for the picnics next week and then again in September. I look forward to supporting you all in any way the school can and to giving your children the very best education that we as a school can deliver.
Kind regards and sincere thanks once again.
