For those that know me well, I would rather a pen and a piece of paper than anything technological, it’s just the way that I work and I must admit, probably not the most efficient or effective.
In recent weeks my staff team have been “on at me” to embrace the wonders of technology a little more. They have shown me things that I have to admit I quite like and even I can see the benefit of.
It is with this in mind that I write to update you on a new interactive tool called “Seesaw” that we will be using for completion of weekly homework.
Homework is an essential part of your child’s learning experience, it helps us understand what your children have understood in class already and what my teaching team need to plan next to ensure that your children make the best progress possible in future lessons. Those children that complete all their homework each week do make better progress.
This week the teachers will be spending time working with your children showing them how to access their online account. They will show them the section where their homework will be set and they will show them some of the great things “seesaw” can do. This really is the way forward, no more excuses that the dog chewed it, that they’ve “left it at dads” or that there was “no paper/pens”.
We will write to you this week with your child’s access codes and clarify when your child’s homework needs to be completed by… all you need to do is download the app on your pc, laptop or phone or access it online and you are ready to go. From Monday next week all the children’s homework will be set and checked using “seesaw”.
I do hope you will enjoy using Seesaw and helping your children complete their homework on it each week.
