Dear Parents and Carers,
Last year the Government in their wisdom introduced 30 hours, free childcare for some children aged 3, if their families met strict criteria. At Westmorland we were able to offer this to some of our families. Sadly, this offer was not open to everyone.
Children who access the 30 hours provision do indeed make more rapid progress from their starting points, have better attendance and thus improved life chances.
I have looked at the numbers in our nursery for September this year and they are quite low, it is with this in mind that school is able to offer ALL children coming into Westmorland nursery a FREE, full time (30 hours) place for the autumn term. This will give all the children a great start to their education and also give mums and dads the opportunity to do other things.
It’s not too late to apply for a place in our nursery classes here at Westmorland to take advantage of this offer, applications should be made on the Stockport council website.
Once you have applied for a Nursery place in the normal way we will write to you to confirm that this is a full time place for the autumn term.
I will of course have to review this offer in the spring term 2019 but encourage you and your friends, with 3 or 4 year old children, to take advantage of this.
If you would like further information, please feel free to pop into school where Miss Hadfield or myself will give you further information.
Places are limited so please apply quickly.
