Free School Meals
Dear Parents and Carers,
Ref Free School Meals
You will be aware that our catering team are currently providing Free School Meals to those entitled to them in the form of grab bags, these bags are available for collection from the front office each day from 11.30am.
On today’s menu… cheese, tuna or jam baguette, piece of fruit, cookie, cucumber and a yoghurt. Just help yourself to the one that your child would like the best.
I’m pleased to say that after a slow start the numbers of families coming to collect these meals for their children have increased over the last few days, perhaps because of the “publicity” they received on Facebook last night, my personal thanks to those who shared kind and supportive words on the site.
During this difficult time the catering team will also provide free school meals over the Easter break apart from Good Friday and Easter Monday when the provision will be closed.
I am critically aware of the many families that do not qualify for free school meals, if your circumstances have changed, as many sadly have, please apply online through the Stockport Council website.
If you are struggling to get food for your children whether you are entitled to free school meals or not then please do not hesitate to contact me via email or ring James or Roxanne who will be happy to try and help you resolve this situation for you. For example, I know that one parent not living in the area has a collection arranged at a different primary school this makes sure that her child will be able to receive their free dinner.
We are keeping the situation under constant review and are working with the catering company and Local Authority on further options for all families during this difficult time.
I take this opportunity to thank my staff team on your behalf who now attend school each day on a rota system to make sure that we are able to offer families support from a distance. Despite National guidance to “stay at home” they work tirelessly in school, putting themselves and their own families at risk by attending, demonstrating their support for all families within our school community.
