End of Term Letter Feb 2021
The first half term of Spring draws to a close today and what a term it has been. I write to say a massive thankyou to the vast majority of families for their support and their endeavours to make home teaching work for your children.
You have done an amazing job, you have done your best to make sure that your child continues to access school work and has a good routine when learning from home on SEESAW. I’m seeing a true resolve from most that show a determination to keep your children learning and not let them fall behind.
Thank you so much.
In school we have continued to teach the children of critical workers that cannot remain at home due to the jobs that their families do, thank you to those parents and carers that support our community during the pandemic and that have had to make tough decisions to access a place for your children at our school during this difficult time.
My thanks on your behalf to our talented teachers and support staff that have adapted to our rota system, working from home one week and then in school the next. They often go unappreciated for the work they do. I know many of you have contacted me to say what a fantastic job they have done providing direct teaching to children through SEESAW, making videos of new teaching concepts and posting them on SEESAW to make home learning easier to access for families. Teachers have spent long hours preparing and responding to the work submitted by your amazing children.
Many of you have told us that you have found it hard BUT you have been creative with home learning and made things work for your children, you have found solutions, not problems and have done your best. It is great to see that you recognise that my team are doing their best, working tremendously hard and giving MORE than ever to your children to make sure they don’t fall behind.
None of us chose to be in this situation, given the choice we would all want the children and staff to be in school every day and one day these times will return. Until then school will operate as it does.
Now is time for a rest, at 3pm today the school holidays start, whilst SEESAW will be visible and you can put your children on it over the holidays, to keep them busy, the teachers won’t be responding to work submitted. When we come back on Monday 22nd February SEESAW will be updated, and both school and home learning will re-commence. We have lots of things in the pipe line to keep home learning as fun as possible and you’ll see those on SEESAW in the new term.
Thanks once again for everything the majority of families have done and the support you have provided and I look forward to working with you in the new term.
