Early Closure Information from Stockport Town Hall

Dear Parents/Carers,
As you are all aware, the Prime Minister announced stricter measures to reduce the spread of the coronavirus at
the beginning of this month. These measures will stay in place until at least the beginning of December.
Following this, we expect to see the re-introduction of some form of local or regional restrictions.
Our schools are doing their best to stop the spread of the virus by following government and Public Health
guidance and advice.
After a challenging Autumn term, we would like to ensure that as many children, young people and families as
possible are able to enjoy a well-earned break without being asked to self-isolate.
For this reason, Stockport schools who were going to be open on the 21st and 22nd of December will now provide
home learning on these days. Our schools will end on-site provision two days early without any loss to your
child’s learning time. Your school will notify you of the home learning arrangements that have been put in place.
We acknowledge that, particularly for families with children at primary schools, this decision will be disruptive
to childcare arrangements, and have attempted to provide as much notice of this change as possible to enable
families to make the necessary changes to your plans. Please find links below which outline Child Care Support
Services and the latest government guidance:

Please can we ask that you follow Government guidance, when it is announced, with regards to family
gatherings over the holiday period. We hope that our combined efforts will reduce the risk that individuals may
be asked to self-isolate, which could enable families to spend time together.
We would like to remind you to continue to follow the public health advice to maintain strict social distancing;
to wear face coverings where appropriate; to wash hands regularly and to avoid social contact outside of
households, support bubbles and childcare bubbles. This is the most valuable contribution that we can all make
in reducing the transmission of this virus.
Thank you for your continued support during these unprecedented and very challenging times.
Yours sincerely,

Chris McLoughlin
Director of Children’s Services
