Covid Symptoms Letter 9th September 2020
9th September 2020
Dear Parents / Carers,
We have had a very successful start to re-opening thanks for your positive comments, the children and staff have settled quickly into their routines and I am satisfied that the schools routines are sound.
My thanks to parents and carers that support the school by staying safe social distance on the yard. My thanks also for the responsible attitude of families who, when childhood illnesses involving any of the symptoms of Covid-19 are noticed at home are keeping their child at home, phoning school and asking for advice.
The symptoms of coronavirus are a new, continuous cough, a temperature (above 37.8) or a new loss of taste or smell. I take opportunity to clarify what you must to do in the instance of anyone living in your house presents with symptoms of Covid-19.
If a child – or someone they live in the same house as – has Covid-19 symptoms, the whole family must self-isolate at home (this means stay inside) - for 10 days for the person with symptoms, and for 14 days for their household and get a test.
The person with symptoms must visit https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test, call 119 to get a test or take the whole family for a test at the new Brinnington local test centre, located in Porta-cabins on the front carpark by the Leisure Centre (open 8am to 8pm 7 days a week from Friday).
If parents can’t book in advance, just turn up at the test centre at Brinnington Leisure Centre car park. Do not wait to get a test if someone has symptoms if your child or someone they live with has symptoms, you must play your part in keeping our community safe.
Once test results are returned and they are negative then you are able to get on with daily life and return to work and school immediately.
If you are unsure about whether to self-isolate your whole family and get a test at the Brinnington walk in centre or need further advice please contact the school or Marie O’Malley on 07800 618570 who is managing the Brinnington walk in centre.
