Dear Parents / Carers.
I have spoken with several of you over the last few days who are worried about the current world-wide coronavirus outbreak.
I write to update and I hope reassure you about the precautions that the school is taking to minimise any risk to its community.
Like every other school in the country, we are being updated on a daily basis by email from both the Department for Education (DfE) and the National Health Service/Public Health England (NHS/PHE). The Local Authority is also providing useful updates with regard to any local issues that there may be. Thankfully, at this time, the numbers of people known to be affected by this virus in this region are very few, and there are no known cases in the Brinnington area.
We are told by the Government that all schools should currently maintain normal routines and keep things as normal as possible for the children. This includes making sure children come to school every day, taking part in all events including swimming and PE and continuing with trips and visits.
As a school we are taking various precautions to help keep everyone as safe as we can, we have increased the rigour of the cleaning regime making sure that things like door handles and surfaces are cleaned more frequently and with stronger disinfectants.
We are teaching your children about the importance of good hand hygiene, using soap for 20 seconds, using a tissue for coughs and sneezes and to avoiding touching your nose mouth and eyes with your hands.
We will of course respond and adapt to any new advice given by the DfE, PHE and LA as quickly as possible and keep you fully informed either by letter, text or via the school website. Please ensure that we have your correct mobile number in order for this to happen.
