REWARD SYSTEM

At Westmorland we teach and reward the following Olympic and Paralympic values:

  • Excellence
  • Friendship
  • Respect
  • Determination
  • Courage
  • Equality
  • Inspiration

We believe that relationships are based on shared values.

Each half term a different value is taught in both assembly and PSHE lessons. The children have identified behaviours that demonstrate this value.  Our rewards system is based on these values and children are rewarded for their behaviours which show these values.

“It’s not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are.” Roy. E. Disney

They receive a medal for each value and these are collected and recorded on class charts.

We have also decided on three targets that the children must achieve, on a regular basis, in order to achieve enough medals for a reward session. Completion will need support from children’s parents. These are:

  • Being on time every day
  • Bringing a PE/swimming kit to school
  • Completing homework and reading at home

If enough medals are achieved each half term, then the children will be rewarded by being invited to take part on a ½ day celebration event. These are planned to reflect the children’s interests. Tracking of the children taking part allows us to monitor the impact of our reward system and help as many children as possible to achieve this reward.
